This is a summary of what weather may be expected during the year with the change of season.

The outline includes suggested activities that could be considered during  the season or month being discussed.

It is not my intention to tell you when to come to this area the outline is only to leave you better informed.

The outline is intended as a guide only, so that the reader can make better decissions themselves for their own purposes & activities.

This area area is usually  very stable during Mid January till mid May.

The ocean temperature is warmest then usually between 21 & 24 degrees C.... !

So this is can often the best time to visit the Ulladulla (Shoalhaven region) area tfrom January till mid February is usually very hot and humid.Maximum datime tempratures in the mid to high 30's Cellcius not uncommon.Best usually to sunbake before 10am & after 2pm so as to avoid excessive sunburn...so don't for get your sunblock.

Early February can be very humid somtimes and also be very,  very wet...February is usually our wettest month for eastern Australia especially; if the La Ninya weather pattern is in place. (See Southern Osilation Index ) SOI relates to surface water temperature in pacific between Australia and Chilie.

If the El-nino weather pattern is in place then we experience drought conditions in eastern Australia. When these dry conditions exist they are often accompanied by hot dry westerly winds from Central & northern Australia these can persistant  blowing most of summer. Extreme fire risk conditions often also prevail.

March April May & Mid August & September are usually our sunniest and driest months.

A very good time for all outdoor & adventure sports in Shoalhaven area & while the water is cool to cold in August September, the water is still fairly warm March,April & May.

November Early December can be overcast with a bit of wind drissel rain & or showers; maybe better to explore Canberra or further inland Australia this time of year.

Mid August, September till early October usually has lots of sunshine though a little cooler & the ocean can range from 15 to 19 degrees C during this time.

Good snow skiing conditions usually exit at this time in the Snowy Mts and we are getting longer daylight hours plus most of the snow blizzards are over.

So this why AoTA plans our snow ski trips at this time of year.

This is also a good time for hiking & kayaking in the shoalhaven area

Some good surfing waves for board riders this time of year ...if you have a wet suit.

Lets face it June & July can be rather cold day light hrs are shortest....surfer boarders can experience good surf but you'll need a wetsuite.Perhaps northern Australia may be a better choice this time of year.

Christmas can be hot OR cool weather boxing day (shortly after Christmas)launches the Sydney to Hobart yaught race. Observers and partipants understand the weather can be very unstable around this time of year with strong storm fronts not uncommon hence some boats find themselves pulling into Ulladulla Harbour or Twofold Bay at Eden.

The weather is more predictable by mid January when hot weather can usually be expected till begining of March. Great for beach, swimming, snorkelling. body & board surfing.

March, April to May is ideal for scuba diving hiking & Kayaking and the water is still warm day time air temperature often matches ocean temperature. around 22-24degees C Also winds are very slight often days have no winda at all.Weather is usually very stable with low rainfall & plenty of sun.
